Sometimes, I feel the need to check out places that are hyped in the media. Curiosity gets the better of me. Wondering if it is really worth the hype.
Dominique Ansel Bakery was surprisingly pleasant. I understand it is slightly pricey and they do charge a 10 percent table charge when you eat upstairs, but they actually take reservations online which is rare for a place like this.
And I have to admit, they are pretty creative with some of their sweets like the FROZEN S’MORE™.
It’s creative because it’s an inside out s’more with the marshmallow on the outermost layer with vanilla ice cream hidden inside.
They also have a brunch menu on the weekend where you can get soup, salad, sandwich and a drink for the regular price of a sandwich. However, there are only two choices for the brunch so if you are in the mood for something else, you should order off of the regular menu.
If in doubt order the Soho Avocado Tarragon Toast. *It doesn’t come with a pickle but
it’s simple and delicious.
